All Is Well

I woke up feeling so weighed down this morning. I know why, and it’s inevitable, the heaviness that visits this time of year. Even if I’m not thinking of Robb consciously, it comes unbidden to my subconscious. The brain retains all those memories, and we know it definitely keeps the emotions of past experiences there too. So my heart is just…so very sad and lonely for my son.

So I told Craig about my depression—he’s feeling it so much this year too—and I told him that I knew what I needed to do today. Have you heard Carrie Underwood sing “All Is Well”? It’s on Michael W. Smith’s Christmas CD from last year…Michael W. Smith and Friends: The Spirit of Christmas. Absolutely beautiful, breathtakingly so. And it centers me.

So for all of you who are feeling depressed or anxious or rushed or angry or sad. Join me as I close my eyes and focus on the very center point of this time of year: Jesus Christ. And his precious gift.

When I think of that, all truly is well.
