Creating Pathways

We’re excited to share this new name for our ministry to couples! We wrestled over a name for much of the way from Happy Valley, Oregon, to the Rocky Mountains and back (that’s a total of over 2,000 miles!), throwing ideas back and forth until I was convinced we’d never come up with a name that…fit us. But once Craig said Creating Pathways out loud, I knew it described what we’ve been about pretty much since we first married.

Like finding a coat that fits as if it’s been personally designed, cut, and sewn, Creating Pathways uniquely includes our commitment to:

*God’s active involvement in our marriage: we’re cognizant of our vows before God in the past, how he’s directing us today, the faith to trust him withall our tomorrows

*a continual process: we’ll be making pathways throughout our married life

*always seeking to find a way back to each other, through….

We’ve been pro-active as we worked to construct those pathways too. And because of that, we realize we have a deep desire to pass along all the lessons learned along the way—out of our successes. And or failures. Maybe especially our failures?

…the toughest times, when we were not really functioning as a couple

…the weakest times, when we found strength only in our God

…all the stages of raising children

…the myriad of transitions we’ve been through as our ministries changed

…when we couldn’t understand or relate to one another

…the times we were poles apart

…anger, depression, weariness, exhaustion, woundedness, encouragement, jubilance, gratification, thankfulness, feeling blessed

Years ago, through a wonderful community of people in a ministry called Marriage Encounter, Craig and I learned that we cannot do this alone. The institution of marriage is clearly under attack; the assaults to weaken or destroy marriages come often. Unfortunately, Christian marriages appear to be no more immune. Therefore, we write to help and encourage you…while we need you to help and encourage us.

Want to join us? Let’s commit to Creating Pathways, together. For His glory!
